Book the last seats available! The Salsa festival at the end of November has become an international top event during the last years. 700 dance enthusiast went to Havana in 2011. The festival 2012 is almost booked out according to the organisers, but only almost. We still have some vacancies for you... and there is more! Our offer is not limited to the last week of November in the rather modern part of Havana - we show you Cuba from different points-of-view. And because our dance school - yes, we have been offering highly qualified classes in Havana for about 17 years for Salsa and all other rhythms danced in Cuba! - is located in the historic city centre, and because we accommodate you in real Cuban appartments in the middle of Havana, the first week could be even more exciting than the second one, which adjusts more to programmes one can find somewhere else.
We offer individual pick-up service at the airport. During the first week, you stay at a carefully selected Cuban upper standard appartment with friendly Cuban hosts, who you might not want to leave again afterwards (It happened to many travellers, but you can always come back...) There is a Cuban tour guide for you, who speaks Spanish, English and French. And you study the individual dance classes at the "Academia Danza y Movimiento“, during which you can dance with your personal Cuban dance partner without having to pay an extra charge.
For the second week, you move to the Mirimar district, situated at a distance of about 12 km from the historic centre, and you stay at one of the festival hotels. Please read here how this is going to be:
This is truly an experience which makes you get to know Cuba during two weeks from very different perspectives. And you can also arrive earlier or stay longer...

was the question our Cuban travel partner asked us yesterday after she had received the list of participants for our Easter journey to Cuba from March 31st to April 14th. Indeed, not only the Cuban female dancers are waiting for their dance partners. Male dancers are also appreciated by the group in order to go out dancing in the evenings together.

Congratulations Ignacio González Cano!
We're usually somewhat reserved about giving too much information about our local tour guides, since we often have to make changes at the last minute due to their job schedules. But it is now time to be open about our Easter trip from April 16th to 30th. Particularly since one of our tour guides for this
trip just brought a successful and highly-praised choreography of "Carmen" to the stage:

Whoever would like to meet Ignacio personally on this 14-day trip, there is one double room available and space for one woman in a shared double room:

Dancing tango in Montevideo is coming into fashion and becoming increasingly attractive for tango travellers. The capital of Uruguay lies somewhat in the shadow of the Buenos Aires metropolis on the other side of the Rio de la Plata, but it is catching up more and more due to its special charm. A big contribution is certainly the excellent tango teachers, who are getting great feedback from beginners to advance tangueros and tangueras, alone or as a couple. And, you can also book a visit to an evening milonga accompanied by one of the teachers - a unique and exciting dance experience!

Tango Holiday in Umbria 2011
Thursday, September 30. 2010
The tango scene in Buenos Aires is multi-facetted and very alive. There is a multitude of competent tango teachers for all varieties of modern and classical tango. There is a great number of schools, among which some are absolutely professionally organised and run and which offer -next to qualified instruction- a complete merchandising of shoes, clothing and music. In addition, dance partners and accommodation are often arranged. Some tango schools offer Spanish lessons in cooperation with language schools. Even airport pickups are organised. Tango tourism in Buenos Aires shows a complex and complete tourism infrastructure.

are still somewhat rare in our tango trip in September - even though this dance holiday is the ideal opportunity for men who want to dive into tango and don't have a partner. Actually it is more than ideal, it is a dream situation, especially in Buenos Aires. The single foreign man often stands around at a milonga at the edge of the dance floor with no chance to dance, as long as he has not had an opportunity to show his abilities. A great opportunity for men who really want to dance...

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce our new colleague, Danel Cove. He has already started to actively support our Danza y Movimiento Team and will be substituting for me when I go on maternity leave in January 2010. We're delighted that Danel has jumped aboard and we're looking forward to the teamwork.

Since 1996, Danza y Movimiento has created a large programme for dance courses, Spanish classes, classes for musical instruments and theatre in various countries. In the beginning, the focus was on salsa and tango, but over the years, the range of dance offers has been enlarged to almost all areas of dance and movement. The programme contains modern dance or ballet in Havana; hip hop, Alexander technique or BioDanza in Buenos Aires; and also jazz dance, Lindy-Hop, Bollywood or flamenco in Madrid - and these are only some examples of a broad variety of offers, which are suitable for professionals, beginners, for spending your annual holidays in an active way, and which extend into the areas of dance therapy and choreography.
“Danza y Movimiento” is considered a trend-setter, and thus it isn't surprising that other travel organisers frequently visit our website. It became particularly obvious in the case of Cuba, because especially "salsa" became a lucrative term for big and small travel companies in the late 1990s. Since then, again and again, complete text passages from “Danza y Movimiento” appear in the catalogues of other travel agencies. This is what we call a lively interest...
It is possible to copy the words but not the essence of our travel offers. Considering the
- key contents of our cultural programme
- format and goal of our journeys
- personal support of our guests before and during the journey
- possibility of an exchange of experiences after the journey
we are not worried by many of the copies currently on the market. But it is easy to tell the copy from the original: Questioning the content
of other agencies' offers, one can easily find out, if the answer is well-grounded or if it only consists in catch-phrases or compositions of text excerpts.
If you are looking for the original and for professional structures, we will be happy to assist you with or advice for your journey to Cuba, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain or Italy.
