The tango scene in Buenos Aires is multi-facetted and very alive. There is a multitude of competent tango teachers for all varieties of modern and classical tango. There is a great number of schools, among which some are absolutely professionally organised and run and which offer -next to qualified instruction- a complete merchandising of shoes, clothing and music. In addition, dance partners and accommodation are often arranged. Some tango schools offer Spanish lessons in cooperation with language schools. Even airport pickups are organised. Tango tourism in Buenos Aires shows a complex and complete tourism infrastructure.
These offers from tango vendors are described in detail and advertised with finesse in specialised travel guides and tango magazines. So, it's no problem to organize and put together a tango trip for yourself, especially since a flight to Buenos Aires can be easily booked over the internet. (Something I personally don't do anymore, by the way...)
As a tango travel agency we're actually superfluous. (At least, one could think so...

)
Indeed, we don't offer any price advantage for those who would book on location the same services we offer. (Assuming you can find the places...) And this applies to accommodation as well as to lessons with teachers or at schools. For the same services we often pay the same price as the customer who books on location - possibly even more, since we have to pay our local partners for the organisation and support. In other words, we pay people in Buenos Aires so that those services, which someone booked, are actually provided. And so that our guests know who they call or where they can go when they arrive at the tango school and it just happens to be closed, or after a long and stressful flight there is no one home at the appartment one booked.
We have a functioning local infrastructure so that that what we've promised can be offered or a fitting alernative be given. There are, on the one hand, the deals offered in travel guides and on websites. And then there is, on the other hand, the reality of Argentina, which in the areas of organisation and communication often doesn't correspond to that which was promised. After years of experience in the business, we could tell you more than a few stories about this! For example, it's not uncommon that tango schools are closed from one day to the next only to appear again suddenly months later in a different location - or to just disappear for good. Similar things can happen with accomodation. And tango teachers in Buenos Aires are quite unpredictable, which is no problem for someone with a few months to spare. But unfortunately, only very few belong to the small group of privilaged persons who can take a half year off for their stay in Buenos Aires. In this case, one can definitely take time to orient oneself unhurriedly and worry-free.
For all Argentinian contigencies, we have a competent local team on location, whose main task it is to stay in tune with the tango scene and be able to react flexibly according to the needs and wants of our guests - which often means quickly finding equal alternatives to the intended program.
For this reason, we especially recommend to tango dancers to take advantage of our offer of consultation with a tango scout. Upon
arrival in Buenos Aires you will have a competent individual introduction to the current situation in the tango scene - recommendations for teachers, schools, milongas and everything that could be of interest for most people during two weeks in Buenos Aires and which allows an optimal entry into the scene.
With us, a trip to Argentina still remains an adventure. The question is, how much adventure one wants to experience in the time given, and whether this adventure should rather consist of new experiences of dance, encounters with people and culture or in certainly equally exciting, time-consuming, on-location organisational holiday improvisation.
