Stazo Mayor, Sampler Buenos Aires - Paris Vol. 2, Cuarteto Bando, Jürgen Karthe and Fabian Klentzke, Sampler Tango Trilogy and CD/DVD box of the movie 12 Tangos at last. So there is a lot of inspiration for Christmas gifts and wish lists. These are our recommendations with some short information:
CD Stazo Mayor: A Mi Esposa in our shop The former musician and founder of the famous orchestra Sexteto Mayor presents 16 titles in the instrumentation bandoneón (Luis Stazo and Christian Gerber) and guitar (César Nigro). CD Jürgen Karthe und Fabian Klentzke: Tango Amoratado in our shop Our last newsletter pointed out the CD A Puro Curda by Cuarteto Andorinha. Tango Amoratado is another production by Fabian Klentzke (pianist from Sexteto Andorinha) and Jürgen Karthe (bandoneón in the same orchestra). It is evident that the musicians know each other really well and that they complement one another perfectly. CD Cuarteto Bando: Tango A Tango in our shop For this production, the bandoneón player Jürgen Karthe is joined by Jung-Won Oh (violin), Robert Brenner (bass) and Steffen Heinze (piano). The quartet interprets compositions by Carlos di Sarli, Julio de Caro, Julio de Caro and Astor Piazzolla, amongst others. CD Varios: Buenos Aires - Paris Vol. 2 (2 CDs) in our shop Follow-up CD of the popular compilation Buenos Aires - Paris which has been eagerly awaited. Electrotango with, for example, Narcotango, Tanghetto and Otros Aires. CD Varios: Tango Trilogy (3 CDs) in our shop 3 CDs with 45 tango titles famous all over the world, for example La Cumparsita, Mi Buenos Aires querido, El Choclo and El día que me quieras. CD 12 Tangos (CD+DVD) in our shop CD and DVD of the movie by Arne Birkenstock, which portrays the everyday-life and the music of the capital of Argentina and of Tango. Thursday, November 22. 2007Sexteto Andorinha & Sergio Gobi
Everybody dancing Tango regularly, at least in Europe, will have met the Sexteto Andorinha. They are a popular live orchestra and they have already performed "from Moskau to Madrid, from Uppsala to Zürich". In all these places, the musicians have shown their devotion to Tango. The latest production "De Puro Curda" presents 16 titles, written for example by Astor Piazzolla, Francisco Canaro and Aníbal Troilo. Yet, there are also three compositions by Peter Reil (Bandoneón) seamlessly fitting in. A beautiful album (also visually), which will not only please the dancers:

Costa Brava is one of the most popular Salsa orchestras in Puerto Ricos. For 25 years they have been in the music business, and they still know how to entertain their audience. This new production is powerful, dynamic and perfect for the dancefloor. Salsa Clásica worth listening to:

This CD is perfect for dancing! Joe Arroyo, Alex Wilson, Yuri Buenaventura, Los Van Van, Salsa Celtica, Orquesta La Palabra, Diego Galé and many more make sure that there nobody will be bored. Many Salsa compilations concentrate on only one type of Salsa: Salsa Cubana, Salsa Colombiana, Puerto Rican Salsa. The result sometimes is a bit disappointing, because, speed, dynamics, instrumentation etc. are very similar and provoke symptoms of fatigue for the audience and the dancers. In contrast, the sampler "Salsa Style - Latin beats for dancing feat" was made by experts: You can enjoy it without any problems from start to finish.

The musician with the characteristic, husky voice is back with a new album: "Utopía". His Tango, which is a fusion of various rhythms like Tango, Milonga, Candombe and Murga, is admired by music enthusiasts and dancers alike. The percussion elements add a dynamic and fascinating rhythm to the tracks. The singer, trombonist, pianist, composer and painter Cáceres has lived in Paris for many years and calls his music "Tango Negro".

This is the new release by Bajofondo, which has been eagerly awaited by all friends of Electrotango. Tango meets Candombe, Milonga, Electro and Hip-Hop, and an exciting composition of rhythms and sounds emerges, which turns out to be harmonious. The list of artists involved in the project is also fascinating: Ryota Komatsu, Elvis Costello, Mala Rodríguez, Nelly Furtado and Lágrima Ríos, together with the Argentinian and Uruguayan musicians of Bajofondo, enchant the audience of "Mar Dulce".

The producers Anja Hansmann and Sebastian Schnabel are on a quest for the "real tango" and they make us participate in their journey through Buenos Aires. This is a multi-facetted documentary about the phenomenon of tango. It shows the passion for tango from a traditional and a modern perspective, from young dance couples and dancers who have visited the milongas for decades already. Some of the music is by Otros Aires and Narcotango, who have had a great influence on the development of Electrotango.
The movie is in Spanish language with English and German subtitles. DVD Más Tango in our shop Friday, October 12. 2007New Latin CDs
The last shipments brought us some very recommendable CDs, amongst them LA 33, Frank Reyes and many more. Sometimes there are also "new entries" of CDs which were not published this year. Classic CDs, like for example the SAR/ Guajiro Records productions disappear from the market from time to time and reappear again. Thus, we add them to our page of recommendation for Salsa new releases, just like the CDs by Edwin Bonilla and George Delgado, which are new in our catalogue.
CD Gozalo by LA 33 in our shop Salsa from Colombia - full of power and perfect for dancing. CD Te regalo el mar by Frank Reyes in our shop Bachata without Frank Reyes is impossible. His new production, again, is a gem for his fans. CD Tirando Pa' Charanga by Edwin Bonilla and Jesus Perez in our shop Fine Charanga which takes you to Cuba.
