"Los Van Van" and more ...
Dear friends of music from Latin America and the Caribbean!
>From time to time, one of our clients asks us for a very special CD and it turns out, that we can’t order the CD any more, because they are “cutout”. That means, that the CDs are not produced any more. We can understand perfectly the disappointment of our customers. Thus, we always try to find new sources of supply and we are looking very closely at lists of new releases in case there is a rerelease of the CD by another record company. This is what happened in the case of the marvellous CD “Llegó Van Van” by Juan Formell y Los Van Van. After quite a long struggle concerning licensing rights, the pain is over. What a relieve! “Llegó Van Van” even won a Latin-Grammy, but more important still: it is full of top hits like “Permiso que llegó Van Van”, “Temba, Tumba, Timba”, “La Bomba soy yo” or “El negro está cocinando”. Honestly: Every fan of Cuba and Salsa/ Timba must have this CD (although we usually don’t force our customers). This is the link for sceptics:
We would also like to draw your attention to a new music genre which is very popular nowadays: Reggaeton. This is - in easy terms - hard merengue beats in combination with reggae. The result is a hot sound that forces the hips to move. So if you are not challenged by the speed of merengue á la Elvis Crespo, try this! Get into the groove by following the links:
