"Why do I always have to log in before entering the music area?"
You can only use the functions which are linked to your personal data
account when you log in first. If you are registered as a customer,
you can listen to short audio samples. If you are a member in the DyM
Club you can use all the services and advantages after your login. And, of course, you only have access to your
personal data and you will be told for example your past purchases or
your wish list when you log in first.
"Cookies - yes or no?"
It is important to allow cookies in your browser in order to be able
to use the different functions of our shop. We don't generate customer
profiles, but protect your privacy.
"What do you mean by 'Account'?"
Your account in our shop is not concerned with a financial account.
When we are talking about your account, we are referring to the area
which contains your personal data and which is protected by your password. This
area can only be entered by yourself. Your delivery addresses, your
wish list, your current orders or past orders and some more functions,
which are only important for your personal access to the shop, are
linked to this data account.
"Why do I have to login in each browser?"
Counter-question: How do you create the new Tab?
If created by "Open in new Tab" with a click on a link the session
is continued (tested in Safari, Opera and Firefox). If you create a
new empty Tab, enter or copy the URL it won't work - it can't work
because otherwise unknown pages, that are open in other Tabs,
could view your login cookie - which would be a huge security risk -
imagine you have your Online Banking open in one Tab and a hacker site in
another Tab :-)
Audios und Videos
"What ist the format and length of the audio samples?"
The information concerning the availability of audio samples is
indicated below the image of the product. There, you can also see the
length of the samples, namely short (snip, 96kb) or long (long, 64kb). If this
information is grey and not coloured, you are either not logged in,
or you are not authorised to hear this title in the corresponding
length. Visitors who are registered can listen to snip-samples,
DyM-Club-members can also listen to the long version. So if you
are interested in long audio pleasure, just join the DyM-Club...
"I'm logged in but still can't listen to audio samples. What's the reason?"
Please check the box on the top right: The "Account status" tells you
if you are really logged in.
Should you still be using Internet Explorer, please ensure that your flashplayer is up to date. (We recommend, however, switching to Firefox or Opera; there are generally less problems...)
If your browser is up to date and it still doesn't work, then try restarting your computer.
If you read "You are registered", but you
still cannot hear any audio samples, please tell us by email and
don't forget the following details:
- Which CDs did you want to listen to?
- Which browser in which version do you use?
- Which operating system in which version are you using?
We will do our best to remove possible errors from our system as soon
as possible in all involved persons' interest.
"Downloads - FLAC or MP3?"
All downloadable titles are available in mp3 format (192kb) and additionally for club members in the lossless FLAC format. You can decide which format you prefer to download and can also download both formats. No additional costs arise and you still only pay once for the price listed for that track.
For albums where "FLAC on demand" is shown, means that the FLAC files are not yet on the server. We will make them available for you in case you will buy the entire album. So please buy the whole album in mp3 format first and inform us, that you like to get FLAC files. As soon as we have prepared the FLAC files, we will inform you and you will then have sufficient time to save the FLAC tracks onto your system.
"Why can't I buy individual tracks in FLAC format?"
We are offering FLAC as a pure service - i.e. without additional costs
- but have, however, taken costs on ourselves in order to be able to
offer it at all. For this reason is the purchase of the complete album
the requirement for receiving the FLAC format.
"What is FLAC?"
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. The audio files are compressed, but such that the size of the file is reduced by 30 to 70 percent, according to the type of music. At the same time there is no loss of quality, as it is with almost all other compression types. This format is free from software patents and is, in our opinion, the only real and current alternative to listen to lossless compressed music.
Should your end device not be able to play this format, it's no problem to convert it into another format.
"Why can't I watch DVDs or videos in the shop?"
This would be a nice feature, but right now it still exceeds our possibilities.
Shipping of products from the DyM Club shop
"Why can only Club members buy products which are not in your warehouse? Don't you want to sell anything?"
Generally, yes. But the days are long since gone when we actually earn money with the sale of CDs and DVDs. It is not profitable any more to maintain such a
large repertoire of a special music genre, to not concentrate merely
on the top sellers and to deal with hundreds of small suppliers. Thus,
the acquisition and the shipment of products are service offers.
Without the members of the DyM Club we would not be able to make this offer
possible in the first place.
"How is the status of availability displayed in the DyM Club shop?"
The availability of a product is indicated below the product's image: available right now,
delivery within 2 to 12 weeks only for DyM Club members, not available.
These displays are updated at least once a day. The displays error rate
is very marginal. Nevertheless, another customer can have ordered the last in stock-available CD an
hour before you placed your order - but this hardly ever happens...
"Some products you sell are very cheap. Are they used?"
We only sell new products. If, however, a product has been in the store for a long time, we reduce the price.
"Why are there products which I cannot buy, even as a Club member?"
Our music site is mainly a specialized music library. You can look for
a product, get information and if we can order a product for you, we
will happily do so. If you cannot find an "Add to cart" button, then
we cannot supply you with the product. But maybe you can find it
somewhere else or second hand. In any case, we can already tell you
that the product actually exits or used to exist and we can offer you some
information about the product.
"I live outside of the EU. Do I still have to pay VAT (Value Added Tax)?"
Of course not. In order to not work with two different price lists (with and without VAT)
in the international mail-order trade, we set the net prices for Non-EU
clients on the same amount as the gross prices for EU clients.
As a balance, we lowered the shipping costs by the exact amount
we additionally take for VAT. This is why e.g. shipments surpassing a specific amount
are free of shipping costs or we charge shipping costs that are considerably lower than
our originated shipping costs. (This applies for consumers. Merchants are always
supplied on the basis of the net price lists...)
"Why do you charge supplementary postage on backorders?"
First of all, some general issues considering the backorders. The handling of backorders is very
time-consuming and costly - especially as we cooperate with numerous small suppliers
who not always don't meet their delivery date. They rarely inform us about the availability of a product, although we
constantly ask them to keep us informed whether they still have the product in stock.
In the case of backorders, we can't bear the shipping costs - apart from the fact that most the shipping we charge
are calculated in a way that we still have a part of the costs on our side in any case...
When you order, you can specify that you don't want backorder handling. Or you can inform us that you want all non-available
products shipped at the same time. Of course it can happen that one CD is available in a week but is not shipped
because the second is available only after three months. Please give us detailed instructions.
You can be sure that the handling of backorders is not an easy issue for us and we try as hard as we can!
"Do you inform me if an ordered product is no longer available?"
Not automatically. If the product is listed as available in our shop, we proceed from the assumption that
we can get you this product. If we don't see a chance for that, the product's availability status is taken out of the shop.
"Why don't you ship by letter post or small parcel? That would save postage!"
In this case, who is liable if the the goods get lost? Letter posts or small parcels are not insured and the
shipments can't be tracked. As letter posts within Germany normally get to their addressee,
you can choose to receive small shipments (at your own risk) as letter posts.
Unfortunately, this is not possible for international shipments...
"Why did you send out the product by certified letter charging the whole postage although I
chose 'Shipment by letter post' ?"
If we failed to notice it - sorry! Of course we will credit you the difference in postage.
In case you failed to notice something, please notice that we ship a maximum of 4 single CDs as letter post.
If your order contains more than four CDs or also includes other articles than CDs, we automatically
charge the standard shipping costs.
"Why did the order confirmation indicated full shipping costs although I chose 'Shipment by letter post'?"
Don't worry. The shop can't identify if you really ordered up to 4 single-CDs and therefore automatically charges
the full shipping costs. But the invoice won't be made out automatically.
Of course we consider your shipment option and only charge you
the reduced shipping costs, if the prerequisites are met.
"Why don't you send out the CDs without cover/sleeve? This would also reduce shipping costs!"
That's right. And we would love to save ourselves and you the shipping costs! There are several reasons for us
not to unwrap the CDs and simply put them in an envelope. Apart from the fact that this would be
a special expense on our part, the costumers, who like to use jewel boxes as archives for the CDs, also
would have a bigger expense. And we would take away the chance to give back
CDs ordered by mistake. This is only possible in case of original packing...
"I own a dance school and would like to sell CDs.
What do I need to do?"
Just request our conditions per e-mail for resellers!
"I have produced a CD and would like to spread it around.
What do I need to do? "
First of all you should decide if need us as a sales partner for the German market or
if you only want to offer the finished CD. If the CD isn't finished yet, we can discuss a managing contract. However, it's very important that you specify
your inquiry as detailed as possible and tell us what you wish and what you have to offer.
This also includes information about your planned marketing measures and possible tours.
"When can I contact you by phone?"
In general we are available on Monday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Tuesday and Wednesday from 1 to 6 p.m.
If the mailbox starts, it means that we are very busy right now.
But we give you a call-back as soon as possible.
