Wer gerne üppigen, dichten Sound hat, liegt mit «Descarga Criolla» goldrichtig. Wenn auch immer hart an der Grenze zum Ueberladenen, fasziniert die CD von Pibo Marquez durch einen tollen Drive, der an vorderster Front von einer permanent treibenden Campana erzeugt wird.
Diverse Klassiker sind in ansprechender Manier aufgearbeitet worden und der Titel «Descarga Criolla» passt gut: In der Musik finden sich all diese Einflüsse aus Venezuela, Kolumbien, Kuba und Puerto Rico.
