Mit ihrem ganz spezifischen Stil präsentiert Quadro Nuevo die neue CD "Tango Bitter Sweet". Die atmosphärische Hitergrundmusik entpuppt sich bei konzentriertem Zuhören als filigrane Symbiose unterschiedlichster Musikrichtungen. Orientalisches Fernweh, quirliger Balkanswing, italienische Evergreens werden im Tango-Rhythmus gebündelt und überaus variantenreich instrumentiert. Die Klarinette schmeichelt die Tonleitern hinauf, das Saxophon erzählt in lang gezogenen Tönen von Tangosehnsucht, untermalt von den beruhigenden Tiefen des Contrabasses; die Musik scheint ideal für tänzerische Tangoposen und extravagante Beinführungen. Scharf akzentuierte Akkorde lassen aufhorchen und dynamisieren die Rhythmik. Dazwischen blitzen melodiöse Evergreens immer wieder als Leitmotive auf. "Paroles, paroles" tönt es nostalgisch und schwelgt in wunderbaren Improvisationen weiter. "Tango jalousie" wird reißerisch á la Kriminaltango interpretiert und verziert mit geheimnisvollen Details, die das Zuhören immer wieder zu einer interessanten Entdeckungsreise machen. Zwischen den bitteren und süßen Seiten des Lebens oszilliert Quadro Nuevo in ihrem ganz spezifischen Stil, im Prinzip nichts Neues, aber im Detail noch subtiler, facettenreicher, emotionaler.
Sehr poetisch, ein bisschen selbstironisch dazu aufgemacht ist das Booklet zur CD, passend zur Musik europäisch in drei Sprachen mit humorvollen Kommentaren zu den Liedern. Der Titelsong "Tango bitter sweet" wird augenzwinkernd als "Filmmelodie für den Roman, den Quadro Nuevo noch schreiben wird", angekündigt, musikalisch ist das schon geschehen - Musik vom Leben als Achterbahn der Gefühle, für gute Tangotänzer eine Inspiration.
