Dear friends of Latin American music!

We usually present new releases by other labels faster than our own productions. If you visit our shop frequently, you will realize that our new releases have been there for a while before we send out a newsletter to you. There is a simple reason for that: We do not want to business even more competitive for the constantly vanishing number of other CD shops. Thus, we do not present our CDs before they are also available in every other store.

Today, we will inform you about a new tango CD and a new salsa CD.

Cantoamerica - Salsa and more from Costa Rica

Salsa from Costa Rica? In the end, I have been working for many years with Latin American music, but when Rob, a German DJ living in Chicago, asked me to listen to Cantoamerica, my reaction turned out a bit sceptical. Salsa from Costa Rica? Never heard of anything like that!

I received a parcel with three CDs by Cantoamerica shortly afterwards, including lots of salsa, reggae and fusion with other tropical musica. I put the first the CD into the player on my PC. Almost without noticing, I got into a happy mood while listening to the music in the background. Some weeks later it was clearly obvious: We would produce a sampler of the best tracks Cantomarica had recorded in the last years!

The result is 74 minutes of 100% Caribbean, the first CD by Cantoamerica outside of Costa Rica, and because everything turned out beautifully, the new release of our midprice series “Vamos!” also contains a complete booklet with the song lyrics.

My suggestion: Enjoy it! Here is the link for the audio files:

If you would like to know what the press and the DJs think about the CD, you can simply click on “Reviews”. And after having purchased the CD for only 9,99 Euro, we would be very happy to know your opinion. If you are lucky you can even win another CD.

And now tango: Pedro Maffia

The prelude for our new series with the title “Masters of Tango Argentino” is the work of Pedro Maffia, an almost forgotten bandoneon player, who is well known amongst tango insiders but who is not the protagonist of any CD worldwide, as far as I know.

Maybe, this artist did not receive any good publicity during his life, which back then just like nowadays decided about the success of exceptional artists.

Maffia starts off from a romantic area, but his interpretations are all danceable and a pleasurable listening experience. Please find out for yourself.

Of course, we will not simply warm up old material with this new series. We dig deep into the unexplored treasure boxes and we look for the undetected. This - again - is a product which we now present after intensive research and careful sound restoring.
