Harri Kaitila
Opera tenor, tango singer, composer

Every Finn has a strange attraction to tango from birth. It was the same with opera tenor Harri Kaitila. Ever since his "Destiny Tango" project in Berlin in 2000, he has been indelibly drawn to it! He has now been singing concert tango throughout Europe for over 20 years and a few years ago he also started composing his own music.

After classical vocal training in Vienna and engagements as a lyric tenor in Austria, Germany and Finland, he has long been particularly interested in international concert tango. He has performed at numerous festivals, including the philharmonics of Berlin, Luxembourg and Slovakia, as well as in Finland. He has performed as a soloist with the Slovak Radio Orchestra with tango songs by Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Gardel and Finnish composers. Together with the Finnish tango ensemble ”Tango del norte” he has toured Finland extensively in recent years.

Harri Kaitila has released three tango albums to date, which are distributed worldwide by "Danza y Movimiento" (Viamas GmbH): 'Schicksalstango - Finnischer Tango auf Deutsch' (Able Music, Berlin, 2000), 'Un finlandés en Buenos Aires' (Sonorte Art, Helsinki, 2011, together with the Tango Sonorte ensemble) and 'Tango Málaga' (2023, together with the internationally award-winning Finnish composer Tapani Puranen).

In addition to compositions by Tapani Puranen, the album 'Tango Malaga' contains three works by Harri Kaitila, published by "Ediciones La Palmera".
